Hello,

We are now jumping in the re-approval, sorry for late reply. The wiki page for re-approval will be available soon, when it's done I'll comment here. Could you please tell me when will be the re-approval IRC meeting?

Thanks.

When and how can we arrange a meeting? The agenda at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoCouncilAgenda does not show when will be the next meeting...

We have added us to the Agenda, but the time (20:00 UTC) of 18th Oct,
2011 appears to be inconvenient to us. Because we live in UTC +0800,
it will be 04:00 here when the meeting is held. So I'd like to ask if
we could slightly change the meeting time?

(Posted to loco-council@l.u.c, and it needs to be approved by list moderator there.)

Actually, we can do the vote on the bug ticket, if you'd rather that -
we're trying to be more accommodating to teams outside Europe and the
US

Will that work better for you?

how many are in active on irc and how many are in your launchpad account? Do you do team reports?

Dear czajkowski,

Sorry I'm afraid I don't understand your question well. I have requested loco council to vote at this bug report, because the time is not very well for us. I'll try to reply your questions:

We have 80 persons active on IRC normally, and sometimes there might be over 100.

We don't track community members on Launchpad, because the website is too slow to access in China. We have 325487 registered users on our forum in the mean time, forum.ubuntu.org.cn, and over half of the people have posted topics/replies in recent three months.

We don't have monthly team reports, because 1) most members do not speak English well and would not like to take the responsibility 2) some members have the skills to do the job but their time is quite tight. In China, there is a very large user base, though the rate is low. Our local community team dose not have the resources to track most users, we just organize events, help people to resolve problems, help people to get involved into the community and generally prompt Ubuntu.

Thanks.

Aron Xu,

Ok thanks for replying, well Launchpad is the metric we use to calculate how many are in a team now forum registered users which is why we asked.

I understand re team reports, but they don't have to be in English.

Your team does seem very active.

Dear Leandro and czajkowski,

I'm so sorry that you vote +0, based on "no team reports" and "lack of real life activities". Let me put here some facts that has been already reported in our re-approval application, and if appropriate, please vote again.

 * No team reports:
We don't have regular team reports, claiming "in this month, we have done A and we have done B". But we do have reports after big events especially Ubuntu release parties, as shown on the re-approval application wiki page.
I highly doubt that judging LoCo team's activities based on regular team reports is effective, because you don't know how large is the gap between reality and the report - may be very close, may be reality > report, also may be reality < report. Someone can be too busy organizing the event so don't write the report, someone can also make up some elements in a report to fill up the page when there wasn't so much activities that month.

  * Lack of real life activities:
This time I'd ask you to re-read our re-approval application, to see whether we really lack of real life activities.
Organized 11 release parties in two years, translated and rewrote the Chinese Edition of Ubuntu Desktop Course, and persistent efforts to Chinese Wiki and Chinese forum - all these things count to a 0? Please refer to our re-approval application for more details.

Again, here is the URL of our re-approval application, no modification after 2011-09-30, the time I first put it here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ChinaTeam/ApprovalApplication

Having looked at the approval application I am +1.

I agree with Paul that I'd like to see the China LoCo set a good example to other teams and produce monthly team reports. We (UK) loco tend to do this _during_ our regular meeting, so it takes no time at all. We have a standing reminder during the meeting to tell everyone to update it with what they have done this month. Job done.

That aside, I'm impressed with the work you're doing in China. It's great to read about your events and I look forward to hearing about more!

+1 from me. I only wish that the wiki reflected more of your teams great accomplishments. I can see that all of you have done some really great work, but had to dig quite a bit to see it. Team Reports would have helped, and placing images directly into the re-approval application, like one for each event.

I must say that I have mixed feelings on your application between a 0 and +1.

When we mention that we we do encourage you to write team reports, it is of course for us but more importantly for you and the rest of the ubuntu community and to vast majority of people who don't know about Ubuntu. Team reports are a good way to show to the worlwide community that you are doing great stuffs in China to promote Ubuntu.
I agree that team reports can be falsified, but we have a strong sense of trusting in the community, like it can be defined in the code of conduct.

I have also to say that the various appreciations that Laura and Leandro made, were to help you improve your team. It is true that you have a big user base but I am sure that you can do more : we have the same number of user registred in our french forum than you, and we cannot say that both countries have the same population :)
I am also sure that you can clearly organize more than 11 parties over 2 years ! But it is a really good starting point !

Finally I'll give you a +1, because I really think that you have done great stuffs, and that hope you'll continue that way ! And please let us know all the improvements you'll do !

It looks like 4/6 +1, which passes, but only *just*.

Please look at fixing some of the concerns Leo and Laura raised, they're valid, and most of us had a hard time working out +0 vs +1.

Closing and renewing. Well done.
