Selected suggestion is always appended to pre-edit text

When deleting the end of a word to add further letters and then picking a suggestion will always append the complete suggestion instead of replacing the whole word:

In english on the OSK
type t
type h
pick suggestion 'the'
 -> "the "
delete space
delete 'e'
  -> "th"
type r
pick suggestion 'three'
  -> "ththree "

Or slightly different at the end of last word:
type t
pick suggestion 'the'
 -> "the "
delete space
  -> "the"
type r
pick suggestion 'there'
  -> "ththere "
