Bug Description

I was unsure if I should file this bug here or against open-vm-tools, but since it looks like open-vm-tools hasn't been updated in a while and this error hasn't appeared in previous attempts, I am filing it here for now.

I've seen this occur on Xenial kernels for non-x86 arches like arm, s390x, ppc64el.
