Bug Description

I was just running a 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' on my Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 VM with GNOME 3.20 when suddenly the screen just went black and there was a flashing cursor on it:

    Yakkety_VM_Cursor_Blinking_Black_Screen_During_Upgrade.png

When pressing ENTER the cursor would move down, but nothing else would happen, I was forced to force a cold shutdown.

Here is the output from "/var/log/apt/history.log" for that upgrade:

    history-log_extract.txt

And the output from "/var/log/apt/term.log":

    term-log_extract.txt

Which VM? I'm just guessing but maybe the VirtualBox graphics drivers malfunctioned when you updated the kernel.
