Bug Description
When using Gnome-3 shell under trusty or saucy on my netbook, some applications such as gnucash can be started, but are never displayed. It looks as though they have hung, but on using the application switcher, it is evident they are otherwise working OK, as the application switcher shows a screenshot that is otherwise not visible. The applications can be closed properly.
On the same machine using the Gnome-3 legacy shell, everything works OK - but of course the desktop is not as clean.
