Bug Description
Could i915.semaphores=1 be enabled by default? This prevents occasional to regular hangs and crashes of GNOME Shell on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge hardware (verified on a Sandy Bridge desktop and Ivy Bridge laptop). According to Intel's documentation the downside of this option is reduced stability if VT-d is enabled.
