Bug Description

hi,

I've installed gnome-boxes on an Ubuntu 13.10 Gnome Edition 64bit with AMD-V enabled. Everytime I try to run the application from terminal receive always this error:

gnome-boxes: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libspice-client-gtk-3.0.so.4: undefined symbol: gdk_broadway_window_get_type

everyone have met or resolved this type of error on gnome-boxes.

thanks al lot for the support

Hi, thanks for reporting :)

Could you please join Ubuntu GNOME QA Sub-Team and share the link of this bug with our team?

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/Testing

I doing use that so can't confirm whether it affects me or not. I hope someone else is using the same and that is why I am suggesting to use the mailing list of Ubuntu GNOME QA :)

Thank you for choosing and testing Ubuntu GNOME!

I am sorry, are you testing Ubuntu GNOME Trusty Tahr? or you are using Ubuntu GNOME 13.10? can you please confirm?

We also need help to test Ubuntu GNOME Trusty (14.04) so it would be great if you could join the QA/Testing Team :)

We do need help to test Ubuntu GNOME Trusty: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuGNOME/Testing - please check this link for more information.

Back to your issue, I do need to check that on my Ubuntu GNOME 13.10 installation. I am currently testing Trusty :)

I shall report back and hopefully get something useful :)

Thank you!

P.S.
Our Developers might need more information but that is for them to decide if needed.

Downgrading the libspice-client-gtk-3.0-4 package to version 0.20-0nocelt3 fix the error and gnome-boxes starts.

@Guillaume Hain (zedtux) how did you make that? I've try to reinstall that but on gnome's repositories found the same version (0.21-0nocelt4), thanks

Riccardo Magrini (riccardo-magrini) wrote :

the command to resolve that is

sudo apt-get install libspice-client-gtk-3.0-4=0.20-0nocelt3

and this one to clean eventuality packages no more used

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge

Yeah, forcing 0.21-0nocelt2~saucy1 back to 0.20-0nocelt3 fixes this for me. Does gnome-boxes need a rebuild against 0.21?
