Show empty when opened under Ubuntu 17.10, be it by Thunderbird 52.4.0 (64 bits) or by https://webmail1c.orange.fr/webmail/fr_FR/read.html

however the content of the mail appears once saved as text file

I think that this bug appeared with à Ubuntu 17.10

However mails sent by Microsoft Windows Live Mail 16.4.3508.205 display their contents

A better description is
the same message invisible in Thunderbird or Firefox (in webmail) does appear in Chromium (in Webmail)
so I reported to Mozilla

I also faced the same problem. I think when we open ubuntu in Mozilla firefox the problem occurred. But you may try to open it in Google chrome. I solved my problem by https://www.facebook.com/ page. It may help you.
