Currently the Filemanager's README is out of date and incorrectly points the user to the PPA to obtain the FolderListModel plugin and also incorrectly specifies using qmlscene to run the app.

I'm not familiar with the new changes to the packaging, so I'll have to find someone else to look into this.

DPM might have already fixed this. I'd check with him.

I hadn't noticed this bug before, but it's fixed now. As part of the work to merge the plugin into the same repo as the app and to include it in the same .click package, I updated the README file.

I've noticed that running from Qt Creator does not work, but I'll prepare a fix as soon as https://code.launchpad.net/~dpm/ubuntu-filemanager-app/fix-desktop-run lands.
