Add autocrop to remove white borders from documents

Bug Description

Add an automatic "autocrop" function that would identify and remove white borders (left /right) from pages.

The reason behind is simple - to enlarge the document itself on screen as much as possible without having to manually search for the best zoom value to fit the page to get rid of the borders.

Thanks!

Using BQ 4.5 / OTA 9 / Document Viewer 2.1.301

Hi Michal,

Thank for reporting this!

We have discussed about this in the past, and it's something that Document Viewer should be able to do in the future.
Rather than an "autocrop", we'd like to have a full "reflow" feature. Your report is anyway valid, so I'm going to update the status of the report as "wishlist".

I honestly don't know how much time it would require for getting this feature ready.
I had a look at the two backends we're using (Poppler - for PDFs - and LibreOfficeKit) and both seem not to offer a "native" way to achieve this. We could solve the problem by converting the document to HTML but it would be a sub-optimal solution.

We'll keep this on our radar though, and try to implement it as soon as the situation changes and/or we have addressed some of the issues with an higher priority.

Cheers,
Stefano

How about adding a function "horizontal lock" that would block all horizontal displacement while allowing only vertical displacement? This way the user would zoom to the desired magnification level (such that for example the white spaces would not be visible), then apply the "lock" so the document could be scrolled only in the vertical direction. Would also this be difficult to implement?

Otherwise great work on the app, cheers!
