Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

The following doc is a bit off:

When trying this against a fresh install of Maverick, you will end up with the following error when trying to import the "backend" ldif file as specified:

ldap_add: Other (e.g., implementation specific) error (80)
additional info: <olcModuleLoad> handler exited with 1

The reason behind this error is that the olcModuleLoad line needs the extension added to the module name. So, changing this line:

olcModuleload: back_hdb

to this:

will fix this error. This is also discussed in

Diff for fixing the issue, aka adding the .la extension to the back_hdb module to work, as requested.

Mahyuddin Susanto (udienz), thank you for your help in tending to bugs for ubuntu-docs, but did you realize that a patch for this bug had already been submitted a few days ago.

The merge proposal looks good to me.

However, I wasn't able to get it built though using "bzr bd -S" (can't seem to create the orig.tar.gz correctly).

I also wasn't able to push to lp:ubuntu-docs; that's going to have to wait on someone with the necessary privileges (which appear to be different than ubuntu-dev).

Thus, I don't think ubuntu-sponsors is the best team to sponsor this bug. It needs attention from the Ubuntu-doc team. They should get this merged/sponsored soon ;-)

Accepted ubuntu-docs into maverick-proposed, the package will build now and be available in a few hours. Please test and give feedback here. See for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Thank you in advance!

Closing task for Ubuntu Documentation, issue is tracked in ubuntu-docs package per doc team policy.

I believe this also needs to be pushed to our lp:ubuntu-docs/maverick branch, otherwise I think this patch will be lost when we do a future build for Maverick with other bug fixes.

Verification for Maverick

I've verified that the package in maverick installs correctly and that ubuntu-docs help looks fine.

I would not call this one "fixed." It is two years later, but if you search for "SAMBA and LDAP" you get pointed to the guide for 10.04 (Which is still supported) and it points you to the still broken page with no links out... Is there some reason this three character fix can not be added to the 10.04 guide?
