Error on Ubuntu documentation immutable page

Bug Description

On http://help.ubuntu.com/community/RecoverLostDiskSpace, a line reads "An advertised 500Gb drive doesn't format to 500GB."

Besides the missing space between the number and symbol in each measurement instance (e.g. it should read "An advertised 500 Gb drive doesn't format to 500 GB"), it makes no sense to switch symbols in mid-sentence unless you're talking about two different things (such as bytes vs. bits). Stick to B, the IEC 80000-13, IEEE 1541 and Metric Interchange Format symbol.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1457928/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

Thanks for your report!

However, the page is not immutable - it's a wiki page which anybody can edit - including you. ;-)

Since you seem to know how it should be changed, it would be great if you could fix it.

Due to the nature of the community help wiki, you can't request changes to it in the form of bug reports.

The page *is* immutable, it says so right on its top left corner. Do you need a screenshot?

Hi Daniel,
Are you logged into the Wiki? I just checked and I can edit the page while I'm logged in.

Yes, I'm logged in. The page says "Immutable Page" and offers no "edit" button or the like. What's the keyboard shortcut to edit this wiki?

Well, I'll be darned. After logging out and back in, I can edit. Apparently I was "logged in" in a pathological way, offering a "logout" button but no user capabilities. Weird.

Good that you fixed the access issue. The community wiki is heavily cached, which unfortunately causes confusion once in a while.

The status "Invalid" stands. It does not at all mean that you don't have a valid point. It's just that there is no team which maintains the community wiki at that level of detail - as opposed to the official documentation, which is maintained by the Documentation Team. In other words: It's a wiki - bug reports don't apply.

Well, yes, now that the page's immutability has been revealed as a local problem, the bug becomes invalid indeed. Had "immutability" been a web site page setting, it would be another matter.

While I've got your attention, does the page render italics for you? None of mine do, even if I use a different browser altogether or switch machines.

I actually don't see any italics on the page, and in ~10 seconds of playing around I was unable to figure out how to get them working.

;)

No. Unlike wiki.ubuntu.com, the community wiki is customized to not render italics. I suppose it's intentional - someone wanted to avoid unnecessary 'noise' - but personally I disagree.

Then someone needs to fix http://help.ubuntu.com/community/HelpOnFormatting (which remains immutable to me despite being properly logged in now). That page also shows that italic, superscripts, subscripts, smaller, larger, and strikethrough are all disabled!
