I'm running a MacBookPro, downloaded ubuntu-24.04.1-desktop-amd64.iso via https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop, used balenaEtcher to create a bootable USB stick, and did a clean install on my (old) MacBookPro. The installation failed. Did this a second time, same result.
Then I installed Manjaro (problems with wifi) and KUbuntu (problems with display driver, solved by adding nomodeset to grub cmd line). Now I tried installing Ubuntu again, and succeeded, so I can't reproduce this behavior atm.
