Xubuntu Noble installer has no begin installation icon on desktop of Live Session

I booted up the Xubuntu Noble Live Session DVD. There is no icon to begin the Xubuntu installation on the desktop.

I booted up a Live session of Xubuntu 22.04. Edited the desktop icon to see what it launches. Tried the same command line on Xubuntu 24.04. No joy...

From Synaptic I added the main Ubiquity package, and all of its dependencies. Still no desktop begin installation icon!

In the Settings folder I found an icon for "Install RELEASE". I clicked that, and this window has had spinning progress icons ever since... an hour already.

Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Same thing here. There is no longer a "try/install" screen. Selecting the "Install RELEASE" item from the menu results in a white screen with no progress.

QEMU/KVM VM, but I doubt that makes any difference.

Xubuntu does not use ubiquity but the new snap:ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap

So how is it expected to launch the Xubuntu 24.04 installation? It is expected to have to enter a command such as above into a Terminal?

We need further instructions from the Xubuntu team. Blocker defect for now.

As per bug description 'ubiquity' is not installed.
Further to comment #7 I'm moving this to an appropriate *project* for now.

Progress with today's daily ISO. Today there is a desktop launcher. However it is not marked executable, so it pops an unnecessary warning box. Please see attached today dated files.
