Testing Ubuntu Noble desktop daily ISO dated 19-11-2023 - Booting into live session results in try/install page white screen.Selecting install from the dash results in same white screen.

Thank you for your bug report. Could you attach the 'journalctl -b 0' log from the session after trigger the issue? Could you also share the details of the configuration used (VM or hardware? which video card and driver?)

Once again receiving this error on two machines barebone hardware

Beelink S12 Pro with Intel UHD Graphis - aatached is log file from that machine
And also tested machine AWOW NY41 with Inter UHD Graphis 770 - same result

When this bug was first reported, the corresponding upstream bug was https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-installer/issues/2391 - That got fixed in late November 2023 so the late November images still work. A similar white window regression then appeared in December 2023.

So while we could declare this fixed with https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-installer/issues/2391, since a similar regression has occurred in December as https://github.com/canonical/ubuntu-desktop-installer/issues/2407 we will track that instead.

I tried installing Ubuntu 24.04 on 2 notebooks and a virtual machine through Virtualbox.
In all 3 cases the error occurred and I was unable to install.
I think the importance should be treated as critical.

Downloaded the daily build today, booted from USB and was unable to install due to white blank screen no matter how I try to access the installer. The same when I tried using VirtualBox inside Ubuntu 22.04.

The white blank screen happens with the snap store and firmware updater as well.

From what I read of overnight discussions, it is believed that Mesa 23.3.3 has a fix. Looks like some kind of GLX protocol breakage happened in 23.3.0?

Just to give a data point, mesa/23.3.3-1ubuntu1 fixes many issues with snaps and LibGL on my laptop, namely:

- white blank screen when opening firmware-updater snap
- no OpenGL hardware acceleration but software rendering only in chromium snap, and missing background effect in Google Meet because of that
- Zoom snap wouldn't start with "Failed to create OpenGL context"

And by installing the ubuntu-desktop-installer snap by hand after updating to mesa/23.3.3-1ubuntu1, I don't see the white blank window any longer. I'm pretty sure the issue will go away when mesa/23.3.3-1ubuntu1 gets promoted to noble from noble-proposed and a new image gets built.

I tried daily build version 2024-01-17, but the bug is still there. Laptop is Fujitsu WUA/H1. The solution is to restart subiquity snap service.
