Bug Description

Testing localized Precise Italian ISO 20120317

1) create a live usb session persistent;
2) boot from it;
3) open Rhythmbox;
4) click on an italian radio in Rhythmbox (mp3 streaming);
5) It appears the plugin installer checking for available plugin;

What happens:
1) session installer just report that there is no plugin available, without specifying what is needed.

It should happen one of the following instead:
1) session installer should offer to install fluendo or gstreamer0.10-plugin-ugly (default) (this happens on an installed system) at least on countries without license problem.
2) session installer should offer to enable universe source to be able to install gstreamer0.10-plugin-ugly

Are there many detivates which disable multiverse by default? We had some code to enable repos on demand but this also required to store an offline information about the missing packages (we used app-install-data). So is there skegal difference at all?

Hi Sebastian

sorry for the Italian comment, I've marked invalid the bug for other packages than ubuntu-defaults-it so I thought that you guys wouldn't receive messages anymore from this bug.

So, what's the problem: in the italian CD we've the rhytmbox customization with some Italian radios.

Those radios required the mp3 pluging. When you select it from an installed system it works with no problem. If you try from the Live session it says that there's no plugin available.

The bug is reproducible Ubuntu Desktop if you add a stream like this: http://shoutcast.unitedradio.it:1209/listen.pls

I've tried opening a terminal and installing manually the gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 package and then it works. So the problem is not about the repository. I also made an "apt-get update" before trying so the system had a local information about the packages. Why do you talk about multiverse? gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 is in universe afaik.

Thanks in advance

In fact it works also with gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly which would be
the selected by default when you select a mp3 radio from an installed
system.
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly is in universe as well.
