Bug Description

I had been using verison 12.04 LTS of the O/S from a CD drive. Before installing the O/S, however, I wanted to make sure that everything I needed was working properly on my new O/S, which I had hoped would have been ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Thus, I had been attempting to install an internet media player. But, before I did that, it was suggested by ubutunut.com that, before installing an internet media player, that the partner repository or repositories needed to be activated. So, I attempted to activate the Canonical Partner Repository at: deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu precise partner and also the Ubuntu repository at: deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/precise main. However, after installing or enabling those two aforementioned repositories to enable the installation of a media player, the following error message has been received multiple times: E:Malformed line 7 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist parse).
What's going on with this? What's the explanation and why can I not install any internet media player that functions properly with appropriate screen resolution on the Ubuntu O/S through the Firefox browser? Please advise.
