Bug Description

on Ubuntu touch when ever trying to set the clock to display seconds on the clock using gsettings, the value is getting updated but the clock is not showing the seconds.

Following is the command that i used to enable seconds on the clock

gsettings set com.canonical.indicator.datetime show-seconds true

After this when i check the value, it is showing true but the clock is not showing the seconds even after reboot

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. The clock app does not follow the gsettings show-seconds. Confined apps afaik don't have access to read gsettings. That said, it is a good idea to respect the settings of the user by following the indicator-datetime preferences. Will talk to the designers and indicator-datetime developers about this.

@charles, since clock app cannot read gsettings, could you perhaps expose this as a dbus settings (similar to the alarm settings properties) that clock app can then read and enable seconds if indicator-datetime is showing it?

I think this bug report is Invalid. Whether you want seconds shown in a clock app, that you’re looking at for brief periods, has pretty much nothing to do with whether you want seconds ticking away in a clock that's in the corner of your screen almost all the time.

The indicator's current behavior on the phone matches the design spec at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TimeAndDate#Phone.2Ftablet.

I'll be happy to update the code if design re-addresses this issue, eg for convergence, but I'm not going to make an MP to go against the design spec. :)
