Bug Description

Analog clocks has many benefits over digital clock (See: http://chronicle.com/blogs/brainstorm/is-the-analog-clock-out-of-time/6171)

"The analog clock carries certain advantages over the digital clock. First, once learned — once turned into an easy habit — reading and comprehending the meaning of the hands occurs almost immediately. Pilots, for example, like clocks with hands on faces. (When a hand moves suddenly to the left, it means, “Uh oh, the plane is going down.”) Second, reading an analog clock creates a spatial plan of time in the mind. If the hands say it’s 8 o’clock, and it’s the morning, you can “feel” — holistically — how much longer you have until noon. Third, analog time is more fluid and uncertain. Telling time becomes an activity of estimating, rather than locating. Finally, analog clocks permit and even encourage the subjective experience of time. (Of course, to experience time in a completely subjective way, we’d need to destroy all forms of clocks.)"

Unfortunately it is very hard to read time from Ubuntu Clock App's analog display.
"Easy to read time" feature is very important and it should be considered in design process.

To solve this situation, I would like propose adding Analog Clock Markers.
After that implementation, whole application will be consist (every time page, will have Analog Clock Markers), and analog timers will be easy to read.

Bartosz, I am afraid I will have to reject the changes in this MP. We have received new designs for the clock app. The new designs do not have the clock markers as well, which makes me think that the current implementation of the clock app is clear enough for the user. The current clock show time both in analog and digital format which removes the need to show clock markers.

You can find the new clock app designs at https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B55Gs35e-jxxNzRzOHVxbmNDbFU&usp=sharing

I hope you agree. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at <email address hidden> or by commenting here in this bug report.

I have brought this to the attention of the designers. Waiting on their feedback.

As a design team, we explored a few options with markers, but we still prefer the option without.

We believe most people should be able to read the hour without them. With regards to speed of reading, most people will read the time on the indicators bar at the top.

Is it possible to add option to enable markers (for users that would like to read from analog display)?

Glad to see I'm not the only one who prefers an analog clock with hour markers. I, too, think it would be nice to have the option to enable markers.
