Bug Description

The clock app causes unusual high CPU activity on my computer (constantly 20–30 %). This does not appear so clearly with other qml applications that don't have constant animations. It is probably due to animations in QML or qmlscene (I didn't find qmlscene to report the issue there). There should be potential of performance optimization.

Could this be related to bug 1199073 ?

So far I assumed it was maybe not taking full advantage of hardware acceleration (I have only Intel 945GM, but when we have Unity8 on the desktop it should run equally well as Unity7).

In vmstat I see an increase of user CPU time (us) from 7 to 28 and context switches (cs) from 950 to 1150. I think it could be the same issue as bug 1199073.
