Bug Description

Dear all,
I just checked the xfce minimal daily and the /pool on the ISO:
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily-minimal/current/noble-minimal-amd64.iso

has only 64kB and contains ONLY: /b43-fwcutter and /setserial

thank you very much for checking,...

Well the complete list of packages listed in the xubuntu ship-live seed is:

 * b43-fwcutter
 * libatm1 # suggested by ppp for PPP-over-ATM
 * pptp-linux # client for Microsoft-compatible VPN's, needed for some ISPs
 * setserial # needed by folks with nonstandard serial ports
 * sl-modem-daemon # needed for some Winmodems (see OutoftheboxWinmodem)

So 2 of these are present.

And sl-modem-daemon is i386-only so can't be seeded this way.

The other two do exist in noble so it's unclear why they're missing.

 libatm1 | 1:2.5.1-5 | noble | amd64, arm64, armhf, i386, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x
 pptp-linux | 1.10.0-1build3 | noble | source, amd64, arm64, armhf, ppc64el, riscv64, s390x

Tagging in Michael who has done a lot of work on debian-cd recently and may
have insight.

Oh nevermind, it's clear from the logs.

! Promoted libatm1 from supported-maas to minimal to satisfy iproute2
! Promoted pptp-linux from ship-live to desktop-minimal to satisfy network-manager-pptp

So these two packages are already seeded into the live environment and therefore are not duplicated in the pool.

Are there some other packages you're expecting to see in the pool?

The xubuntu developers have made some deliberate cleanups of the pool in the past couple of days.

Changed in ubuntu-cdimage:
status: New → Incomplete

Thank you for the clarification!

I cannot check right now but I wonder how the bcmwl-kernel-source w/o gcc,
dkms will compile without being present in the /pool

Or is the compiled wl.ko included in the initrd?

With kind regards

This is a change following the suit of Ubuntu, where we dropped it from the
image with the rationale:

    Drop reference to bcmwl-kernel-source, superseded by broadcom-sta

This was dropped from Ubuntu over a year ago.

Clear, but the broadcom-sta package is missing in daily ISO :-(

At least it was included in the ISO a couple of days ago,...

It looks like I missed the broadcom-sta package when I did the cleanup. I've just added it and will publish new Xubuntu dailies.

Perfect! Just checked out the new ISO and glad to see the expected /pool
being apparently complete again!

Thank you so much for your help!
