It contains El Torito boot equipment for CD/DVD via BIOS and EFI.
Further it contains an MBR for USB stick or alike via BIOS.
There is no GPT for USB stick via EFI without BIOS emulation.
There is no Apple Partition Map (APM) and no HFS+ boot image.
The current Debian 7.4 amd64 contains a GPT and a APM, but no
HFS+ boot image.
So this would be a candidate for a test. If it boots, then Ubuntu
could ask mjg about how the HFS+ image was produced. xorriso would
then be able to put it into the ISO and mark it by GPT and APM.

A not very young Fedora Live-CD contains GPT, APM and a HFS+ mjg59.dreamwidt h.org/11285. html
