if i make a new event I can't choose de birthday calendar

The Birthday calendar is intentionally read-only. The intention is that birthdays are pulled from contact details. See bug 1439757

OK, but can you tell me how I can add a birthday to a contact? I just added a new contact and the only fields I have are name, surname phone numbers, email, IM, address and business info.
