Bug Description

There should be some indication that an event is occurring on a day when viewed in Month/Year views.
A highlight or something similar?

This is one of the most important subject for Calendar !
Depending of space available for month view (eg phone, small tablet, tablet, big desktop screen), we can have different rendering of events for each day.
In a previous g+ post (https://plus.google.com/116969809081987273766/posts/aP3d8Zbpm78), I started some exploration. You can see it in the third image ("enhanced month view") : either user can see a bubble for each event or a generic image showing that N events are scheduled for the day + a popup to list events.

In other software, they reduce the bubble to dots (few pixels with) : user just can count the events of day. And dots have a color associated to their respective calendar.

As my focus is currently month/agenda view for dektop, I'll also work on this subject.

I think we can solve this pretty simply for now.

I'd propose a single coloured dot per calendar to represent events on that day.
So if you have 2 synced calendars and one event on that day from one calendar, = 1 dot
2 synced calendars and events from both on that day = 2 dots

I think showing individual dot per calendar will clutter up the month view. suppose someone have 4/5 calendar and have event for each calendar, how it will look.

That might look fine on desktop, but on phone I am not sure.

I suggest to draw a small timeline below date label. which can represent when event starts and how long it runs, we might use calendar color to represent event on timeline.

something like

 1 2 3
       -=--- -===-

Was there a decision on what this should look like? I'd like to take a stab at implementing this, but I want to make sure I'm implementing the 'right thing'.

To summarize, the proposed ideas were:

1) "Bubble" with number of events that day. (michel-renon)
2) "Dots" (colour-coordinated by Calendar) on each day. (popey)
3) mini-timeline under each day of the month. (pkunal-parmar)

To throw my two cents in, I feel like it'd be sufficient to just change the text color for the date if there's an event for that day. For example, if I have an event on the 4/15, the "15" on the month view would display in red, or some other highlighting color. This would be a nice minimal cue if users don't have a ton of events. (Admittedly though, if they have events most days, then they might not even notice that days are being highlighted).

Anyway, is there any concensus on what the right visual is, or is this bug on-hold until that gets decided?

I took simple approach as of now.

I draw small circle below date label to indicate, event is occuring
