Is this PPA still valid for gmailwatcher?

https://launchpad.net/~loneowais/+archive/ppa/

If you update it with 11.10.3, we can review those package files directly, rather than recreating them from the tarball.

No, it contains the old version for Natty.

It has a new ppa now,

https://launchpad.net/~loneowais/+archive/gmailwatcher.dev/

I update quite often, so please pick up the latest version you find there. Current one is 11.10.7.

Great, thanks!

I pulled down gmailwatcher_11.10.7.orig.tar.gz, gmailwatcher_11.10.7.debian.tar.gz, and gmailwatcher_11.10.7.dsc. The .debian.tar.gz and .dsc files look good on a quick pass through. The .orig.tar.gz includes some unusual files,

Only in gmailwatcher-ppa/debian/: files
Only in gmailwatcher-ppa/debian/: gmailwatcher
Only in gmailwatcher-ppa/debian/: gmailwatcher.debhelper.log
Only in gmailwatcher-ppa/debian/: gmailwatcher.substvars

It looks like the tarball was created from the directory after a package build, and included some files from the package build process?

That's right. Actually, my source tree contains the debian packaging too but I can create and upload a pure source tarball without the debian stuff if required.

I just pushed 11.10.8 with a clean source tarball.

I took a look at 11.10.20 in the PPA (we do need the packaging to check over), and saw that you were also getting this checked over on REVU. Since there are additional requirements/limitations on apps in the ARB process, would you prefer getting this into precise & then backporting to oneiric, rather than maintaining separate packaging for extras.ubuntu.com?

Hey Andrew,

Yes, It's currently undergoing the the review process and it's close :). I had to change a lot of packaging stuff to match the standards and one of them was letting go of /opt and installing just like other apps. So, as a result of that the packaging is not ARB complaint right now.

Yes, getting into precise and backporting to oneiric would be so much better than maintaining two packaging branches.

Thanks!

Cool. Marking this bug as invalid, since your package is going through REVU. If you decide to go through the ARB process instead, please reopen this bug.

Thanks!
