Bug Description

I'd find an auto-save function very practical and also needed. I use Uberwriter for work-related writing where data safety is important.

Maybe instantaneous save on edits would be cool, or a time-based solution.

Yes, this will land in some future release as well.

I would love to couple it with ubuntu one / dropbox integration.

There might also be an option to save incremental diff's, so there is a complete history of the edits.

Changed in uberwriter:
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Incomplete
status: Incomplete → Confirmed
assignee: nobody → Wolf (w-vollprecht)

Dropbox integration would be so sweet since I'm going to use scriptogram and possibly markbox.io for blog hosting.

Hi Thorsten,

I agree, dropbox integration would be awesome, however I am still struggling "how to get it right".

I mean after all, you are basically free to save the document wherever you want (including your dropbox or ubuntu one folder etc.) So in a most basic sense we already have "dropbox" integration etc.

On the other hand, vovkkk (someone who helped me a little) brought up a very nice concept of "shelves". Basically it would be a sidebar, where you define groups of folders or files that belong to one "shelf". Then you can switch very fast between files and have a button at the bottom that says something like "sync shelf to dropbox".

Regarding autosave I have also had some ideas // inspiration. Basically I would like to have versioning as well. So my idea is to have an autosave function just like google docs (e.g. every change you make is saved automatically). But also every save via CTRL+S is saved as a version increase, and then you can later use something like a history tool to check all the changes you made and revert etc. Here is something similar, that looks quite cool: http://ninjasandrobots.com/draft-version-control-for-writing

However, this version control feature might be something a little more far away in the future, but I could imagine it would be quite good for co-working on one document etc.

Maybe you have some opinion on all that, would like to hear it! I am planning to intensify development of uberwriter in february, so stay tuned :)

Cheers,

Wolf
