Bug Description
We need metrics gathered similarly to what we do for LP - probably just tracking the log file is sufficient to get a request count, but as this is a long poll service we probably want (e.g. via haproxy, or internally) to get a count of the concurrent connection count, so we can assess load.

We can probably add a JSON API like the RabbitMQ management plugin.
