Please backport python-ase 3.9.1.4567-1 (universe) from wily to trusty.
Reason for the backport:

Version in Trusty was released in 2012.
Testing:

You can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
$ backportpackage -u ppa:<lp username>/<ppa name> -s wily -d trusty python-ase

Reverse dependencies:
