GIMP crashes display manager when touchpad is disabled

I use Touchpad-indicator to automatically disable my touchpad when plugging a mouse in. Unfortunately, whenever the touchpad is in disabled mode, almost anything I do in GIMP (for example attempting to move an object using the move tool) will crash my entire display manager; requiring me to log in again.

If i kill -9 touchpad-indicator and its subprocesses (touchpad-indicator.py and watchdog.py) while the touchpad is disabled, touchpad-indicator will obviously not be able to re-enable the touchpad and GIMP will still crash my display manager despite touchpad-indicator not running.
