Bug Description

I thought you would like to know that the OTA-9.1 update has not cleared the Today scope icon missing / cut / reordered problem.
I have seen this problem on the Meizu MX4 since OTA 9 version.
One interesting thing, if for instance the date is cut off or reordered, you can correct the problem by deselecting in settings and then reselecting again.
Note, refreshing the scope by pulling down does not correct the problem. Once you have the problem refreshing can also cause the date to not be displayed until you perform the above sequence again.

Please see attached.

Hope this helps sort out the issue.

Thanks for the hard work, great to see new Ubuntu devices at MWC and thinking to buy the M10 tablet.

Regards

Dave H

Hi Dave H,

This seems like the same issue as bug 1546733. Check out the screen shot in comment 2:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/today-scope/+bug/1546733/comments/2

So this bug should probably be set as a duplicate of that one, which I will do unless you disagree. Thoughts?

Cheers,
Kyle

Dave, also, I notice your today scope seems to be using a non standard/default theme, for example there appears to be an image in the background of the scope (mountains). Can you provide info about this?

Hi Kyle,
Sorry for the delay in answering you, I only just read your feedback. My MX4 now has OTA-10 installed and I am still having the cut date issue. When I updated to OTA-10 my background was reset back to the standard "picture.png", but I still sometimes have the cut of date problem. Pulling the scope down to reset doesn’t help, you have to un-tick the info in settings and refresh then select it again.

Regarding my background image (now installed again) , I did the bellow to add it (using terminal and adb shell). sky4.png is my picture. To be honest I think your normal user will need the option to change scope backgrounds, text size / colour as they can in Android or IOS. Not having this is a real disadvantage for Ubuntu Touch. The text is also very small when compared to say the BBC website or Softpeadia.

 udo mount -o remount,rw /
sudo mv /home/phablet/Pictures/wallpaper/sky4.png /usr/share/unity8/Dash/graphics/paper.png
sudo mount -o remount,ro /
