Index disabled, restarted. Problem persists.
I checked with both the stock Ubuntu Lucid version (v3.0.4) and with the trunk version built 4 days ago (2010 Apr 26).
I recreated the issue as I described above, removing my saved password, sending an email, and then pausing to observe the effects when it asked for my password. High CPU usage until I canceled the "Give me your password" dialog.
