Help compiling nginx with geoip2

I am trying to compile nginx with the geoip2 module but I am not having much success.
My goal is to end up with a set of .deb packages that I can host on a private apt repository that will install nginx with geoip2.

I see that you have done this in one of your personal ppas:

Would you mind sharing the build instructions/method you used? or even a link to a git repository with the changes you made? Or even better a link to documentation that describes the build process?

I assume there are quite a few changes required to the `debian/rules` file and potentially an additional `libnginx-*.conf` file.
