Support VMWare as a virtualisation engine

Bug Description

The attached shell script performs the same steps as the current testdrive script for kvm, virtualbox and parallels (i.e. sets up and boots a new virtual machine off the downloaded ISO), but uses VMWare Workstation 6.5+ - comments in the script describe possible error conditions etc. Feel free to include this as part of the main testdrive script, although you'll need to munge it into Python!

Thanks for the script.

I'll get to this once Lucid cools down a little bit.

Can you test this and let me know if this works with the open-vm-tools package in multiverse?

I really need to be able to test this with *something* before I integrate and release it.

Thanks!

So open-vm-tools does not appear to contain the vmrun command that this script requires, unfortunately. It looks like it does contain a lot of other stuff though. I'll have to setup a vm to test this in!

Reading the open-vm-tools SourceForge page it looks like that's the stuff that runs *inside* the virtual machine to enable closer integration with the host rather than being the VMWare runtime.

I appreciate it's tricky for you. If you have any Pythonised stuff based off of this script that you want me to try out let me know.

Okay, thanks for the research. I'll get your changes rolled into the
python script for your testing. Cheers.
