Bug Description

I am testing iso's from various flavors and just notices that I can "sync" the ubuntu-studio img but when I hit "launch" (vbox) the vm it creates does not have enough hdd space for the installation. I can manually create a VM and it works fine.

What version of ubuntu are you running? newer versions might have a fix. If not, you can change the default size settings in preferences.
This is a bug, but i'm not sure if we want our defaut to be larger as it will take up more excess space on other isos

I can confirm this for Ubuntu Desktop on 14.04 too. The default comes with 6G, but the Ubuntu Desktop installer requires 7.1G of space. You need to edit /etc/testdriverc to say 8G+ before it will allow you to install it.

I am also facing the same issue, I am not able to install Ubuntu 14.04 on my Virtualbox or QEMU via testdrive.

The comment in /etc/testdriverc says

    # Note that this will be a sparse, qcow2 file, so it should not actually
    # take that much space on the filesystem.

so it shouldn't be a problem.

For reference, the empty default 8 GiB image (which is empty because the Ubuntu disco desktop installer refuses to proceed due to not enough disk space) occupies only 196K on disk.
