Bug Description

when resizing an open terminator in xfce4.8 on arch linux with

wmctrl or xdotool

the desktop freezes. You cannot start another terminal or another programm.

You may kill terminator only in an tty2 as root, but not always.

I'm not sure that this is a Terminator bug, even if we crash horribly, it shouldn't stop you launching other programs. I wonder if you're actually hitting an X bug. Can you reproduce it with resizing another app?

I've found possibly the same bug, using XFCE 4.8 on Xubuntu with wmctrl or xdotool. I can resize other applications without any issue, but resizing terminator either either tool usually causes the window to 'shrink' until either the vertical or horizontal size is 0, at which points it stops. It doesn't always happen, but its certainly buggy when it does. Using terminator 0.96-0ubuntu1 here.

I've found a workaround; by unchecking 'Window geometry hints' from Terminator Preferences seems to prevent Terminator from exhibiting this odd behavior.

unchecking 'Window geometry hints' works for me too.

I'm marking this as Invalid only because there is a workaround with that config setting, which exists to deal with unusual windowing situations.

Changed in terminator:
status: New → Invalid
