Plugins can't insert things into terminator window

Bug Description
I had an idea for a plugin, to have the bookmarks we currently have in nautilus, in the top bar in the terminal in an icon attached to a menu, however the plugin system in terminator currently doesn't offer a way to let a plugin add to the window content.
The type of functionality that I would love is shown in the mockup attached.
Is there any way functionality for plugins could be made a reality?
