Bug Description
It would be very nice to be able to specify the exact size in (rows, columns) of a particular terminal or pane. I use Terminator for managing remote machines through a serial console which expects the terminal to be exactly 80x24. If I could force a pane to go to that size or to remain that size when resizing the window ("lock" the size of a pane) it would be very helpful.

This would be interesting to have, although I suspect it might be quite tricky to arrange (and it would imply that sibling terminals were also locked to the same size, and cousin terminals would be locked in at least one axis (where "cousin" terminals would be the children of the parent container's sibling. The exact details of the wording are not important, just the general implication that in our nested tree structure, freezing some aspects would freeze others.
FWIW, in our previous experiments at attempting to influence the size of terminals, we have run into a number of problems, so this could really use the input of someone with a thorough understanding of gtk widget sizing.
