Tilix shortcut for vertical splitting is Ctrl+Alt+R, which stands for "Add terminal right". I don't like Ctrl+Alt combination as it is hard to type with my only left hand on a notebook. Ctrl+Shift is much easier. Ctrl+Shift+R in Terminator is for "Reset the terminal". I have no idea what is it for - it does nothing when pressed.
