Menu key not bringing up preferences

Bug Description
I'm using terminator gtk3 and I read that the menu key is meant to bring up the preferences menu. I didn't realise this before, but on testing it it doesn't work for me.
I checked with xev and it shows Super_R being pressed. Any ideas what I could try to fix this?
