Bug Description

Hey,

When using a quake-like layout (see attached config file), I show/hide terminator using F12.

Each time terminator shows up, it shrinks its height and width by a dozen pixels.

At some point, it goes on forever shrinks untill it is useable. I captured it here http://reho.st/gif/ec4a4802170de0065aee4c78071175cb3fbd0511.gif and the debug log is there http://pastebin.com/Xcsc5u5w

If I then hide terminator while it is shrinking and display it again later, I get a blank screen where I can't see a thing. log: http://pastebin.com/Wf2nJzzE cast: http://reho.st/gif/377a81c3eb45ca6b378fa11db5bd4dc875adac2d.gif

CTRL+D eventually kills terminator, which I have to restart to see it loop on those issues.

Bear with me, I do not spend all day hitting F12, this was a way to trigger the issues. And in fact, a double F12 hit helps give focus to terminator.

Thanks for your help!
Brice.

I forgot to mention:

$ terminator -v
terminator 0.97

I tried and recorded the casts using the latest nightly. I have the issue with latest stable version as well, on ubuntu 13.04 then 13.10.

thanks again

Hi Brissou,

Two things:
1) If you disable "Window geometry hints" can you still trigger this issue?
2) If you cannot, then re-enable hints, then try temporarily running the trunk (see instructions on the Homepage) and see if it is still triggerable.

This sounds very similar to an issue seen with some window managers, which was fixed, but not yet released.

Thanks a lot Stephen!

"Window geometry hints" was indeed the culprit.

Terminator is usable again.
Thanks again!

Hi brisssou, while this has solved the issue for you, it is still buggy behaviour. Because these quirky issues are so environment dependent, it's almost impossible for me to check fixes for these. Is it possible you could try trunk with the hints re-activated, and see if it is still a problem with fixes I made similar problems? I don't want to close the bug based on deactivating the hints as that seems a bit false.

Stephen,
The trunk, with hints activated, gave me the strange behavior.
