Pictures in chat don’t open full screen anymore

Bug Description
I’m pretty sure this used to work not so long ago (a month maybe?): in a chat, I would tap on a picture that was sent to me or that I sent myself, and this would open it in a separate view for me to view it fullscreen, with an option to save/share it. That’s not the case any longer. Now when I tap on a picture, nothing happens.
This is version 2.2.30.0 of the app (last updated 22 August 2016), running on the latest rc-proposed on krillin.

I’ve monitored the app’s logs, and nothing is printed out when tapping an image in a chat.
However I’ve found out something: if I long press an image and enter select mode, then tapping an image does open the detailed view. This clearly looks like a regression to me (maybe an side effect of a change in the UITK?).
