Bug Description

Right now the documentation on dynamic sublists is in our personal developer documentation. It's pointed to by the create list page (xxx/mailman/create)

That information should exist in a publically available place (probably somewhere on systers) in a form that will make sense to list maintainers. They may be a little confused by the developer information that surrounds it.

(This is not a showstopper for the wishlist release -- just as we get to it)

Robin I'm not sure what you mean with this bug. Is this part of a how-to of list creation? Are you just looking for a "what is a dlist" type paragraph?

Changed in systers:
status: New → Fix Released
status: Fix Released → In Progress
importance: Undecided → Low
assignee: nobody → Robin J (robin-jeffries)

I'm assuming a new list admin (not necessarily a programmer or sys
admin) who wants to understand what dlists can do for her list. There
is a link on http://www.abiwt.org/mailman/create (and when we release
the new code, presumably they will be at the equivalent page on
systers.org) that points to the wiki; there are other things on the
pointed to page that would be confusing to a list admin. I should
have put the link into the bug report -- sorry. It's
http://systers.org/systers-dev/doku.php/good_to_know#a_few_definitions
(the link anchor text is "here"). I think we just need to replace
that link with a new link that goes to a page (that probably ought to
be part of the mailman code, since if dlists were installed on a new
machine, it wouldn't want to rely on our machine being up) with just
the "good to know" section (with a different title and minus the
"common variables" part). Arguably, the essays part should be on a
different page than the dlists part, since we have separated those.
That would require a link for the words "subscription essay" in the
3rd item under List Characteristics

Is that clear enough?
