replace the standard welcome email with something dlist specific

Bug Description

New users are sent a welcome message. We could use that to reiterate things about dlists. We could also create some standard boilerplate about the systers FAQ for systers only.

Could you please specify a bit more what you'd want to have in the emails?

It needs a little thinking. I'll put something in the bug report as soon as
I'm back up an around.

I can't figure out what this refers to. I just joined systers under a new email address, and the welcome message is quite specific to dlists. (I hope this happens with all dlist -lists). Maybe it wasn't working at some point?

It would be nice to add something about the systers FAQ, but not for all the lists, just systers. Is there a way to add custom info, or to customize the template for systers. (This probably will need to be done by Kathy on the production system, but we need to figure out, and record, what is possible).

If it's possible to customize this just for systers, I'd like there to be a paragraph right after the first paragraph that says

Systers is run by a set of conventions described in http://www.systers.org/faq.html Please read carefully section 9 before your first post, as all systers are expected to keep these conventions, collectively called "systers etiquette", in mind.

It's not the "prettiest" solution, but it's possible to change the welcome message for each list by editing the template on the admin pages. It's like what you used to do to the listinfo pages, just for the welcome message instead. Maybe you could ask Kathy to visit the admin pages for the systers list where she can add this?
Other things possible to edit for each list is the listinfo pages (like you already know) the user specific options page and the subscribe results page. We might want to enter a footer for the subscribe results page, although I'd do that for all lists in the code rather then specifically for each list.

So I think we should leave this bug open and make it about someone doing
this (putting in the right content). Sounds like something that Jen, Kathy
and I should figure out for systers and then educate the rest of the list
owners about what they might want to change.

How about creating a basic page, which says welcome message, and put up link for systers FAQ in the boilerplate responsive page?

We want this in the welcome email. Reading back over this thread, it looks like all that needs to be done is:
   - find the templates that Anna SdG refers to, and figure out where the customized versions live (as she says, this works just like the custom listinfo pages, so probably in the same directory as those, I would guess)
   - put the text I wrote on 2009-07-05 in the welcome message
   - make sure it worked
   - write up detailed instructions for other list owners on systers.org (and the systers admins, to remind them what to do after many years have passed and someone wants to change the text :-)
