[Reproduction procedure]
sysbench --test=fileio --file-total-size=1G --file-test-mode=seqwr prepare
sysbench --test=fileio --file-total-size=1G --file-test-mode=seqwr run <---(*)

sysbench(*) hangs and never returns. --file-test-mode=seqrewr also causes sysbench to hang.

Reproducible on OpenSUSE 11.3 and CentOS 5.6.

[Note]
sysbench from lp:sysbench/0.4 does not have this problem.
