Bug Description

emifreq-applet 0.18-3ubuntu2

Synaptic 0.61ubuntu9

Ubuntu 8.04.1 AMD 64
Linux set 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 17:53:40 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

1. Make sure emifreq-applet is not installed on your system.

2. Open synaptic, choose and install emifreq-applet.

3. Right click on any Gnome panel on your desktop and choose "+ Add to panel...".

4. EmiFreq will not appear in the list of applets to add to panel, this might give the false impression that the applet did not install correctly.

5. Reboot your system.

6. Right click on any Gnome panel on your desktop and choose "+ Add to panel..." again.

7. This time EmiFreq will appear in the list of applets to add.

I think that either:

a. The applet should appear in the list of available applets right after installation

OR

b. Synaptic should inform you that you need to reboot in order for your changes to be applied to the system.

I think this behaviour does not apply to all applets (computertemp applet seems to work for example).

Same problem here with quick-lounge-applet on Ubuntu 9.04.

I really hate to close all of my work and log out just to test-drive this one applet.
