Request: being able to "browse" directories

When I search for a directory and synapse finds it, it would be cool to press a keybind to "browse" it without opening the filemanager. With Gnome-Do you can do that by pressing the right arrow key and I find it very useful.

Yes, it would be great to be able to open a folder found by "locate". Now it's only possible to open files inside the folder found.

Not being able to browse directories is the main reason why I haven't already moved from Do to Synapse. =\

The goal is to do that, browse through folders. =)

If I know that I've some specific file in one folder (e.g., a pdf file of some class) but it has not been indexed by Zeitgeist nor accessible right away, browsing through folders 'til get that file is awesome without the need of using Nautilus. I've become to used to that kind of daily work flow.

So if Synapse could find files not indexed by zeitgeist, you shouldn't need to browse directory.

Not necessarily. Sometimes you know where the file is, but you’re not sure what it’s called. For example, I may want to play a certain track by some band, and I have no idea what it’s called, but I’ll know it when I see it when I see it the context of the other tracks and albums. Other times, the contents of an entire folder are significant. The Downloads folder is a good example of that. I want to see what I’ve recently downloaded there, in addition to what was downloaded automatically for me by some applications. It’s like an inbox for files. The only way to deal with it is to see what’s there. Synapse would let me deal with it, one file at a time, more quickly and cleanly than opening the folder and leaving it open.

Generally speaking, Search is good for finding stuff most of the time, but not 100% of the time; Browse is necessary the rest of the time. Sure, Nautilus lets you do that, but Synapse would be faster and would provide a more consistent experience.

I second what David says, sometimes you know the folder name, but you don't remember the file name until you have it under your eyes. That feature would be useful for poor memory people !
