can't confirm this over here. I actually fixed the sliding in when opening from -o myself a few weeks ago. it shouldn't slide in at all. what plug are you trying to open, and what command-line arguments are you using?

gnome-control-center whatever
vs
switchboard -o whatever
as per
/usr/share/applications

what *specific* arguments are you passing to -o? the names are NOT the same for gnome-control-center and switchboard.

(by names I mean arguments passed to to switchboard's -o)

using "switchboard -o network-gcc-bluetooth" I can confirm that the main icon view is loaded before switching to the bluetooth plug, but there is no animation.

I can also confirm that the main icon view is loaded first with a native plug like "switchboard -o system-pantheon-power"

okay so it seems that the real bug is drawing icons first and then quickly switching to the plug -- the animation isn't a thing.

summary: - Switchboard doesn't draw plugs first with -o flag, slides from main and
- lags.

It's normal, everything is asynchronous so if the plug doesn't exist it
will remain in the main view.
IMO it's not really a bug.

If the plug doesn't exist why is the point of failure so far along? Running in the first place with the -o flag should check for the existence of, no? Why isn't animation obeying any system schema for animations? I'll check for a switchboard specific one.f

Do yields/getters/callbacks not exist in Vala?

For me this branch lp:~voldyman/switchboard/handle-cmd-line does fix this bug too.
