Multiple Server Swift Installation (Ubuntu) misses create /var/cache/swift directory

Instructions for a Multiple Server Swift Installation (Ubuntu) document does not indicate the need to create directory
/var/cache/swift directory. The directory is needed for node which will be object, container, account server or any
combination of the three. Without this directory, the recon file can not be created, and the server won't work and
the error message does not really tell what went wrong.

    directory /var/cache/swift /srv/node should be created.

    For multiple node swift cluster setup, these directories should be
    created in the setup steps. Otherwise, when start up storage servers
    there will be errors. The error messages won't tell if it is because
    of missing the directory.
