Bug Description

Observed an issue where the latest daily netboot tarball for Oracular arm64+largemem started booting, then downloaded the iso from remote successfully, but dropped into a busybox shell instead of booting the downloaded iso.

Instead, we see
> Unable to find a live file system on the network

Interestingly, I see
> [ 56.357625] loop0: detected capacity change from 0 to 4986200
and /cdrom does get created, but when I did "ls /cdrom", it appeared empty/unmounted.

Full bug output is below, and this has also been reported to the QA tracker.

Does this represent a regression from Noble?

Yes, I was previously able to install the Noble ISOs on Grace/Grace using these same steps (back in April when testing its release candidates).

Is this reproducible? I tried reproducing this with qemu-system-aarch64 and the download and mount went fine. Although perhaps this might be due to differences in QEMU vs real hardware.

FWIW I've often run into this same symptom when the kernel in the netboot tarball doesn't match the one in the ISO.

Thanks, I'll check for that to make sure they match

Looking at builds from today, I can see that checksums match on the vmlinuz/initrd in the arm64 iso and netboot tarball. +1 to retesting after confirming that they match, please download new daily bits if this is in question.

Good news - I just tested again with today's daily builds (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/daily-live/20241003/oracular-netboot-arm64.tar.gz and http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-server/daily-live/20241003/oracular-live-server-arm64.iso) after confirming the checksums matched, and everything installed/worked as expected.

I believe this can be marked as "invalid". Thanks!
