Bug Description

I am unable to install Ubuntu on my PC. I tried flashing a Ubuntu version 24.04 using balenaEtcher at first, which gave me an error on boot saying no boot file found, but I could still install it on my laptop without a problem. Next, I tried doing the same for my PC, which has an i5 11500, AMD RX6600, 16GB RAM, so it should exceed system requirements, but the popup to install Ubuntu said "something has gone wrong". I also tried using a different USB drive, I tried flashing with Rufus instead of balenaEtcher, and I even tried installing older versions of Linux, which instead of saying something went wrong got stuck on "preparing Ubuntu".

Thank you for your bug report. Could you try again and attach the content of /var/log/installer after getting the error? Without the debug log it's difficult to say what the problem could be.

Also could you provide details on your disks setup and partitioning options

I uploaded all the files that I could download to my Google Drive. Here is the link:

I couldn't download all the files, it seemed to me that they were "locked". I might be wrong though, I have basically no experience with Linux.

The log you attached there is the fontend one and it just shows that it can't contact the backend service. Any chance you could also get the subiquity debug log in the same directory? (unsure if you are copying from the installer session? you should be able to read the log but if not try with sudo)

This is the subiquity-server-debug.log file. I hope that is the file I was supposed to send.

Thanks, the log has that error

ERROR probert.multipath:38 Failed to run cmd:
['multipathd', 'show', 'maps', 'raw', 'format', '%w,%d,%N']

but I'm unsure if that's what is making fail the installation

Thank you so much. I've found the solution in this thread, after searching the error you found in the log file: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1511927/ubuntu-24-04-nomble-numbat-hangs-on-installation

The installation worked when I disabled both wired connection and WiFi.

It's weird that disabling the connectivity is making things work there, I guess the multipathd error isn't the real problem but I can't really see in the subiquity log what's going wrong
